French Press Coffee (Bonjour 12.7 oz)
October 25, 2025 / /
There’s something timeless about a French press – no screens, no pods, just water, beans, and patience. This is my go-to morning ritual using the Bonjour 12.7 oz press – perfect for a single strong cup or two lighter ones.
☕ Ingredients
- 23–25 g coarse-ground coffee (about 3 ½ tablespoons ) ( ½ cup beans )
- 375 ml hot water (just off the boil, around 200 °F / 93 °C)
🪄 Equipment
- Bonjour 12.7 oz French Press
- Burr grinder (for a consistent coarse grind)
- Kettle
- Scale (optional, but worth it)
🔧 Method
- Measure & grind
Use fresh whole beans and grind them coarse – like sea salt. Measure 23–25 grams for a balanced cup. - Heat your water
Bring water just to a boil, then let it rest 15–20 seconds (you’re aiming for ~200 °F / 93 °C). - Bloom the coffee
Add the grounds to your press. Pour in a small amount of water to wet them evenly, then wait 30 seconds. - Add the rest of the water
Pour slowly to 375 ml, stir gently, and place the lid on with the plunger pulled up. - Brew
Let it steep for 4 minutes. - Press & pour
Push the plunger down slowly and evenly. Serve right away – French press coffee keeps steeping if left in the pot.
📝 Notes
- For a stronger brew, bump up to 26–27 g of coffee.
- For a lighter cup, stay closer to 22 g.
- Always rinse the mesh filter right after brewing – it keeps your next cup clean and bright.
