French Press Coffee (Bonjour 12.7 oz)

There’s something timeless about a French press – no screens, no pods, just water, beans, and patience. This is my go-to morning ritual using the Bonjour 12.7 oz press – perfect for a single strong cup or two lighter ones.

☕ Ingredients

  • 23–25 g coarse-ground coffee (about 3 ½ tablespoons ) ( ½ cup beans )
  • 375 ml hot water (just off the boil, around 200 °F / 93 °C)

🪄 Equipment

  • Bonjour 12.7 oz French Press
  • Burr grinder (for a consistent coarse grind)
  • Kettle
  • Scale (optional, but worth it)

🔧 Method

  1. Measure & grind
Use fresh whole beans and grind them coarse – like sea salt. Measure 23–25 grams for a balanced cup.
  2. Heat your water
Bring water just to a boil, then let it rest 15–20 seconds (you’re aiming for ~200 °F / 93 °C).
  3. Bloom the coffee
Add the grounds to your press. Pour in a small amount of water to wet them evenly, then wait 30 seconds.
  4. Add the rest of the water
Pour slowly to 375 ml, stir gently, and place the lid on with the plunger pulled up.
  5. Brew
Let it steep for 4 minutes.
  6. Press & pour
Push the plunger down slowly and evenly. Serve right away – French press coffee keeps steeping if left in the pot.

📝 Notes

  • For a stronger brew, bump up to 26–27 g of coffee.
  • For a lighter cup, stay closer to 22 g.
  • Always rinse the mesh filter right after brewing – it keeps your next cup clean and bright.
